Wanderlust in Blue

I am no bird, and no net ensnares me;

I am a free human being with an independent will.

A Bit About Blue

… A FEW TRUE THINGS ABOUT YOURS TRULY …

Fact #1: I’m an all too earnest (and often far too frank) young American currently studying Literature and Sociology at a lovely university nestled somewhere in the dear old English countryside.

Fact #2: I’m both an English and an Anthropology major.

Fact #3: I write a bit & I read a lot. I’m not nearly old nor experienced enough to write anything truly worthwhile yet, so the most I can do right now is go out and gather whatever material I can… In other words: Live!

Fact #4: I’m inordinately passionate about the written word, travel, tea, all manners of self-expression, overlarge sweaters, getting to know people (honestly and truly), and staying in hot pursuit of whatever it is I’m looking for.

Fact #5: Just this summer I returned from a prolonged stay in China and, as with all of my past travel experiences, it changed both how I look at the world as well as how I see and understand myself.

Fact #6: Whenever I’m not studying my brains out, reading, or kicking myself in the arse in order to get myself out of my own head and into the here and now, I can be found either earning a buck (I work at a kindergarten as well as a college writing desk during the academic year, and then a daycare center on my summers off) or adventuring the time away with those brave and/or tolerant enough to call me friend.

Fact #7: I intend to spend the spring semester of this year studying abroad in England, and the prospect thrills as well as terrifies me in roughly equal parts. So, we’ll just have to wait & see how that plot twist decides to play out in its own time. However, as I make my way through the academic mire that is the undergrad experience, I intend to continue sifting through the sands in hopes of encountering at least a few real gems that I may stash into my pockets before moving on to other things.

An Aside: Thanks go out to my wonderful anthropology professor (although I am absolutely certain she will never read this) for providing me with additional inspiration to move on with my life as I aspire to think and learn and grow as an individual on my own terms, pursuing my education in a way that is engaged, invested, and constantly transformative. I’ll do the best I can by your example, professor, and one day I hope to make us both proud.

And so, without further ado:

As always, I remain most sincerely yours,

Blue
